You can use this page to express your opinion about WSUS. If you have any feature requests you can add it to WSUS Wish List. If you hate WSUS, that is ok too - just write the reasons in I Hate WSUS and hopefully your issue(s) are to be addressed in future release. If you chose to sign your contribution follow the format in WSUS Wiki Signatures I love WUS because I have worked on creating it for the past 2.5 years and it makes Admins life easier. -- David Dehghan I
am very impressed with what has been delivered so far. I have been
using Shavliks HFNetChk Pro for more comprehensive patching todate, but
this app seems to be a big step in the right direction from Uncle Bill.
It is great to see it also being a cost free app. -- Anonymous. I basically like WSUS - it's a great advance over SUS. --Thomas Lee 5 January 2005 I'm starting to like WSUS. I've working with both SMS 2003 and SUS in our current environment and I like the way WUS simplifies some of the grunt work that I've had to do in the past. The new client options are a nice touch. Though, I'm still evaluating how best to use them in our environment. -- TC Watson 7 January 2005 I've used SMS since 2.0 and am now pretty far into SMS 2003. I also used SUS since 1.0 and couldn't wait for WSUS to become available for beta. So far I love it!!! Much simpler to deal with than SMS 2003 and more robust and reliable than SUS ever was. I'd like to see a few more tweaks such as right-click options and a bit faster response in some of the admin console features, but all-in-all, I can't complain. It's very nice and I haven't encountered any serious problems with it at all. I guess that those of us that have taken a shine to WUS will have to consider monickers like "WUSsies" or something. You KNOW we're going to take it on the chin every time we mention the name to others that aren't aware of what it is. --skatterbrain 1 February 2005 Oh my God. Maybe I'm too easily excited? I loved WUS at b2, but WSUS? Hand me a Kleenex before I have a serious accident. I'm in love again. Yippee. I got RC1 going (after solving one permissions issue...apparently with a default IUSR account?) and I like what I see. Reporting, patch approvals, ocmputer groups are all good things. Hopefully no problems with the beta Win Installer. I hope to test Office and SQL patching soon.-- WSUSup 2005-03-28 4:49 PM I'm feeling pretty good since I installed WSUS RC on two different networks and had no problems at all either time. I hope I'm in the majority. :) --Skatterbrain 2005-03-31 I was originally going to install SUS as a project assigned to me by our IT Manager, but he never got around to deciding which server he wanted me to use for the project. I was glad to see WSUS (still think WUS would have been more appropriate) version Build 2.0.0.2340 available to install, and it was so easy. We're a small city w/200+ clients and 15+ servers. Still in test mode, but won't be long now to go production mode. --cdobbs 2005-05-12
Comments:From Emem - 4/8/08 12:07 PM From cdobbs - 3/1/06 2:45 PM WSUS now in full production. Only problem I get now is once in a while one or more of my computer groups will just disappear. The machines in those groups will eventually reappear in the unassigned group. I've learned to live with it. One problem I had with an earlier version of WSUS was reports printed were blank, although in preview mode they looked fine, that's been corrected now after I had uninstalled WSUS and reinstalled the latest version and than ran a script (available from here) to get past a firewall issue. After that, everything was A.OK. I've recommended this product to the users at certcities.com to learn and use. Which helped out with some of the MS exams since they do cover SUS & WSUS a little (I was surprised to have that on the exam).
From markchallender - 7/29/05 1:46 PM I've installed WSUS -- but I did it on a server that has Port 80 in use by another product. The resolution for the Self Update was an insertion of the VBS script available on the WSUS news group. This script is set to run once per computer and now machines are checking in properly. It looks like we will need to run a second script to change WSUS IDs since we do not use SYSPrep when imaging our machines. Suggestion -- Since machines are looking at the WSUS server on Port 8530 why not have the SelfUpdate on that port? It looks like the optimal setup is an unused or new server with no web sites currently being hosted. Mark Challender Last Modified 7/14/05 3:58 PM | Hide Tools |
Hi all,
I want to see all the patches installed on a particular computer or computer group. How can I do this?
Thanks,
Emem
